Pathos, Ethos, & Logos in the bary...

After doing my observation in the library i have come to the conclusion. That there are many different appeals within different parts of the library. Pathos runs present with the different moods or attitudes you get when you enter different sections. In the computer section people feel as if it is a more laid back type of study enviornment. I witnessed people talking, laughing, and very few people steadily working without becoming distracted. The main part of the library also gives a feeling of a more laid back study enviornment. Due to the tables i did witness more work being done, but people still tend to use group work as extra time to socialize. Groups in this section were witnessed to be the loudest. In the quieter sections the environment made people feel as if it was just a place to get there work done and go about there business. Less side conversations or distractions were noticed. More people seemed to be focused on getting their assignments out the way.
I found ethos to be prevalent also in the library. For people who acted in ways that were out of context for the setting that they were in they often were met with feelings of discontent. Any person who was loud in the basement was looked at is if they were guilty of committing a horrible crime. It was to the point where the person had no choice but to feel uncomfortable if they were making to much noise in the quiet section. It was as if each environment had their own set of social norms and those who didn't conform were met with horrible looks.
Logos was present also in the fact that people knew how to act in each different area. A student i witnessed being loud and goofy in the main part of the library seemed to be a completely different person when i seen them in the quiet section. They were steadily working with no distractions when just a minute ago it seemed as if they were unable to get any work done.

In class: analyzing visuals

The first thing i notice that this girl is holding a joe. This draws my attention because she looks like she is very young. I also look at the way she is posing and her demeanor. She looks like she has been having a real bad day and that her nerves are really bad . She has her arms crossed and holding her cigarette out as if she just needs this one smoke to calm her nerves. This attracts my attention because it is very realistic looking. Her whole demeanor seems that of one of a person who really needs to smoke a cig might act.
The image is in contrast with her because everything around her is seeming to be in a real dark lighting as if it is a dark mood around her. The darkness all around her i think symbolizes her mood or the life she has that makes her so stressed out. I then noticed an all white dress on her. The lighter color might be meant to say that she is really good on the inside and that she has had incidents happen to her that has her to have moments of coldness. The lighting hiding in the upper corners of the darkness might be there to symbolize the fact that once all the troubles go away she will actually shine through like a star. All she needs is just to have her smoke from the cigarette and everything will be alright.
This image is about the fact that some children are forced to grow up so fast and how people on the outside cant understand because they have not been in those shoes. The girl is surrounded by darkness which could be how her life is. When you are in a room full of darkness and there is nothing to see you have no choice but to be your own light. That is why i feel like she is in lighter colors. She is one of the only positive things she has in her life and if she can make it through the storm she will see sunshine.
The person creating this image probably meant for the girl to stand out the most in the picture. Being that it is titled candy cigarette i think the creator might of meant for us to think of the influences toys can have on children. When a child is emulating smoking they can become a smoker.

in class Logos free write

it was hard for me to unddrstand the basic meaning behind Logos. I'm not sure if it meant that something should just be logical or does an argument have to point out a notalbe logos element. i understood the logic behind it. Some things presented in arguments should give us an understanding just because it is the most logical reason. Like the saying you are facing nothing that no one faced before you. I feel statements like this give a logical meaning behind them because in this situation we can assume that we can make it through any problem because there has already been somebody that has done so. I was kinda confused on the argument of precedent part. I couldnt see if they were saying that we should assume something from precedent or what it was kinda hard for me to catch the meaning behind what they was trying to say. Other than thos points i think Logos will be fairly easier to deal with than Ethos. Because it is more of a logical thing.
