My name is Brenan Gordon I am a junior and a business major. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Lousiana. Even though my main reason for taking this class is because its required i still hope to come away from the class with the skills to make and take place in effective arguments. Through this course i want to gain the ability to clearly show and deliver my side of anargument. My primary means of writing consists of writing texts and emails msotly. I use writiting more as a direct form of communication. I also like to use writing to express my feelings in writing poetry when i have a lot on my chest. I feel as if writing is a major and necessary part of my life. Writing serves as one of my major means of communication. Besides leisure communication i tend to not like writing. In the means of academics writing is always looked at as a hassle to me. Wrtiing papers and thiings like that is not something i like to do. I think the reason i look at writing negatively is becasue its often a forced activity.

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the course! I'm glad you have you with us. I, too, tend to think of writing as a "direct" form of communication. I find it easiest to writing something direct and to the point. I wonder if you might try to consider academic writing as a "direct" medium. Most of the best academic papers (anything written for a class) are direct and concise. You might try to pull from skills you've developed in other areas of writing to aide you in composition for this class.
